The last 4 years I worked on Macbook Air Mid 2012 - 8 Gb, now I have Macbook Pro 13.3" 2016 - lowest model, no touchbar, but with 16 Gb. Actually there is nothing to compare, the Macbook Pro is better in every aspect.

The main result is that everything 1.5-2 times faster, some examples:

• unit tests on a large project - from 225s to 146s
• Intellij Idea load time - from 45s to 22s
• grunt watch - from 4.5s to 2.5s
• sphinx index 8246 docs - from 341s (24.18 docs/sec) to 103s (79.93 docs/sec)

The other improvements:

• retina display
• 16 Gb, for now it’s enough for develompent with Idea and Docker environment
• there are only 2 ports in this model, but with Satechi Slim Adapter it’s not a problem and it’s now easier to connect all devices
• i like the new keyboard more, it requires time to be comfortable with it
• the touchpad is larger, sometimes have false events, but very rare
• i like the space gray color more
• the sound is much better
